Missouri Beverage Association is the state trade association of non-alcoholic beverage producers, marketers, bottlers and distributors. Our member companies make and market some of the most popular beverages, including regular and diet soft drinks, bottled water and water beverages, 100-percent juice and juice drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks and ready-to-drink teas.
The beverage industry is an important part of Missouri’s economy. We provide well-paying jobs, pay significant tax dollars to the state and make sizable charitable contributions to local communities.
The Association serves as a liaison between our member companies, government and the public. We also are a member of American Beverage Association, which provides a neutral forum in which members convene to discuss common issues while maintaining their tradition of spirited competition in the American marketplace.
The Association provides information to consumers so they have a better understanding of the industry and its products. Member companies participate in the Clear on Calories initiative, a voluntary commitment by the industry to make calorie information more visible and useful to consumers. Beverage companies are adding new calorie labels to the front of every can, bottle and pack we produce – and displaying the total calories per container on beverages 20 ounces or smaller so consumers can make informed decisions about the products they purchase and consume.
We are helping students make healthier choices by voluntarily implementing the national School Beverage Guidelines, which call for removing full-calorie soft drinks from all schools and replacing them with a broad range of lower-calorie, nutritious,smaller-portion beverage choices.
The beverage industry cares about the environment and is committed to helping with recycling efforts in Missouri. It is a commitment we have had for many years. Our members areconstantly searching for ways to minimize our environmental impact in all areas – including energy and water usage, vehicle emissions and the use of recyclable packaging. We work hard to package our products with materials that are widely accepted in recycling programs and are designed to be recycled with other similar materials.
